Le Mont Ventoux
is a feared mountain in the
South of France, with a moonlike landscape and a pitiless burning sun in
the summer. It has also been venue for some stages of the most famous bicycle
race of the world, the 'Tour de France'.
Here it has seen the most
notorious incident of that race, the death of Tom Simpson in 1967 who,
under influence of doping drugs tried to escape and to defend the 'maillot
jaune' which he was wearing at that time.
In the heat he collapsed.
The most famous champion
of all times Eddy Merckx did the same after arriving at the finish a few
years later but could be rescued.
So the mountain more than
any other is a symbol for everything this race is about, for the big challenge
for immortal fame, the blurring borders between sport, game and serious
struggle for life, between illusion and reality.
The song realises the flow
by a construction which might appear strange to some.
This, the whys and further
backgrounds are better described in one of The New Günter Pröpper's
(Radio WOM, The Shot That Passed Right Through The Net) famous (or notorious)
interpretations:

cafeteriamusic.com as
part of restaurantmusic2000.com is a strange experiment about the
banalisation of music as a replacable background service, helping to sell
and decorate. And thus another pole, almost opposite to the one of the
loaded interpretation of the new Günter Pröppers idea of 'Le
Mont Ventoux'.
Yet it is only a beta version
but it should work.
Select 'cake 1' and be surprised
to find again a monologue less version of 'Le Mont Ventoux'.
More, you will find the
same samples used in various 'snacks', a lot of stuff for Günter to
think about. We'll read...
